The contract will see Worley providing Shell Canada’s proposed CCS project, Polaris, with preliminary front-end engineering and design services. Polaris, when complete, will capture carbon dioxide (CO2) from the refinery and chemicals plant at Shell’s Scotford Complex near Edmonton, Canada.

She added that the award underpins the company’s position as industry leaders in low-carbon fuels and decarbonisation.
The Polaris CCS facility is set to begin operations around 2025, subject to Shell’s final investment decision expected in 2023.
