By using Svante’s solid sorbent technology to capture carbon directly from industrial post-combustion flue gases, the partners intend to create solutions for sectors such as cement & limestone, blue hydrogen, refineries, petrochemicals, steel, ammonia and pulp & paper facilities.
This technology functions by capturing carbon dioxide (CO2), concentrating it before releasing for safe storage or use, all within 60 seconds.
Commenting on the collaboration, Arnaud Pieton, CEO, Technip Energies, stated that the partnership reflects the significant role of industrial-scale technologies to accelerate the transition towards a low-carbon society.
The agreement comes after COP26, which focused heavily on setting and meeting goals to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
“This partnership with Technip Energies will allow us to focus our development effort including a scalable supply chain for active capture materials to address a broad carbon capture and removal solutions offering at Gigatonne scale,” said Claude Letourneau, President, CEO, Svante.
