Evonik will build its new plant at its Austrian site in Schörfling am Attersee.
The new plant follows the construction of the production line started by Evonik in 2017 and will receive an undisclosed double-digit million Euro sum investment, which will come on stream in quarter one of 2023.
Mentioning that the additional production capacities allowing the company to secure its growth targets, Goetz Baumgarten, Head of the Membranes Innovation Growth Field, Evonik, also said, “Having developed and established the biogas industry in close cooperation with our partners, we are establishing our SEPURAN membranes as the new standard for efficient gas separation in demanding nitrogen, hydrogen and natural gas applications.”
SEPURAN membrane technology allows for precise separation of gases such as methane (CH4), nitrogen (N2), and hydrogen (H2) from gas mixtures. As the world’s only backward integrated manufacturer of such membranes, Evonik has a range of membranes suited for different purposes, including N2, Noble, and NG.
Iordanis Savvopoulos, Head of the Fibres, Foams and Membranes Product Line at Evonik believes that the company is sending an important signal to its customers through its expansion, adding that the growth signifies the Evonik’s ambition to become the market leader in membrane-based separation technologies.
