Stena Power and LNG Solutions, subsidiary of shipping giant Stena AB is working with energy storage terminal company Global Energy Storage (GES), bringing their shared expertise in floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs) to onshore terminal and jetty solutions.
With LNG being seen as a key in the energy transition, the partners see the fuel as particularly important for emerging markets.
Commenting on other opportunities presented by LNG such as blue hydrogen production, Peter Vucins, CEO, GES, said, “We are also interested in exploring opportunities with regards to blue hydrogen production where LNG is combined with carbon capture to make low carbon hydrogen.”
Owning and operating three LNG carriers capable of being used as FSRUs, Stena intends to help deliver ‘more sustainable’ energy infrastructure solutions to global communities.
