At the end of October the company said it had commissioned the project, also South Africa’s first commercial LNG and liquid helium plant.
Renergen said this was the final milestone before construction could commence on phase one of the project.
Phase one will produce around 2,700 gigajoules of LNG and 250 kilograms of liquid helium per day starting in 2021.
This will be increased to around 1.2 tonnes and 5 tonnes of helium per day in phase two.
The company held a groundbreaking ceremony earlier this week.
