The delivery marks another step in Petronas’ roadmap to reduce emissions and follows a recent announcement by the company to develop a ‘Masterplan’ alongside the Sabah State Government, which will examine the potential for expanding liquefied natural gas (LNG) distribution.
Commenting on the CNLNG shipment, Shamsairi Ibrahim, Vice President of LNG Marketing & Trading, Petronas, said, “Providing cleaner energy solutions through carbon offsets will not only positively impact the LNG industry but will also create sustainable value for business, societies and the world at large.”
Providing CNLNG to its customers is also a method by which Hiroshima Gas intends to stay ‘on track’ with sustainability goals.
“Our business as a city gas supplier is seeing an increasing need to offer carbon neutral city gas to our end-buyers. We are pleased to have collaborated with Petronas for our first CNLNG cargo,” added Kazunori Tamura, Senior Executive Officer, Hiroshima Gas.
