Hydrogen station safety set to be boosted with new TESCOM valve

You are here: Home / Industry Feed / Hydrogen station safety set to be boosted with new TESCOM valve

July 26, 2022 by realisma

Launched by the US-based technology and software company on Wednesday (20th July), the TESCOM™ Anderson Greenwood Instrumentation H2 Valve Series is suitable for hydrogen applications up to 15,000 psi.

In hydrogen refuelling applications, when hydrogen is moved from tank to pump, the clean energy carrier is transferred at pressures of up to 15,000 psi. To protect personnel and prevent leaks, it must be effectively controlled and isolated.

To do this, the double block bleed valve’s positive double block arrangement provides two layers of positive shutoff that shield maintenance staff from high-pressure during instrument maintenance.

Rob Lindquist, Director of Global Marketing for TESCOM Precision Fluid Control at Emerson, said, “Given the pressures that hydrogen is subject to in these applications, it’s critical that equipment operates safely and reliably, every time.”

“That’s why we’re committed to specifically developing components to help our customers effectively store and precisely control compressed hydrogen gas.”

Right on time

Emerson’s innovation couldn’t come at a better time for the blossoming hydrogen economy. As hydrogen demand continues to grow, so does the need for consistent safety standards and new innovations that put safety at the forefront.

When it comes to the hydrogen refuelling station space, Emerson believes that in 2021, 142 new sites began operating, the biggest increase in a single year, raising the total to 685 active stations worldwide.

Building on this, in January (2022), Global Market Insights predicted that the fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) market will exceed $15bn by 2027. To meet this demand, those in the hydrogen space must source reliable, high-performance components.

With the new 15,000 psi product line, Emerson offers a whole portfolio of TESCOM solutions for safe and precise operation of hydrogen fuelling stations.
