Messer Group, Heraeus Precious Metals, Infraserv, Mainova, Opel Automobile, Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund and Viessmann Deutschland, are part of the wider group and hope to accelerate the roll-out of hydrogen technologies in order for Hesse to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
Since its formation in March (2021), the group has already received positive feedback and support from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Energy, Transport and Housing and further headways have been made.
Focusing on the transportation sector, a number of 3.5-tonne hydrogen-powered delivery trucks are expected to be on the state’s roads by next year (2022) and work is already underway to see how green hydrogen for mobility can be affectively produced.
On this, Tim Evison, Senior Vice-President of Messer, said, “Not only the transport sector, but also Hesse’s industry now has an explicit obligation to make a significant contribution to the decarbonisation of our state by 2030.”
“Among other things we will succeed in this challenge if we apply renewable hydrogen in our respective operation processes and use it as a clean, affordable and practical fuel.”
