Joint studies will be conducted into projects involving the production of green hydrogen, using renewable energy sources, and blue hydrogen, through storage of carbon dioxide in depleted natural gas fields.
The potential local market consumption of hydrogen will also be looked at during the study, along with possible export opportunities. Development and business schemes will also be examined.
Eni’s goals include cancelling out the relative emission intensity (Net Carbon Intensity and eliminating Scopes 1, 2 and 3 net emissions (Net GHG Lifecycle Emissions) by 2050. The studies are part of the framework of Egypt’s energy transition plan, developing hydrogen projects along with international companies as well as diversifying its energy mix.
Our upcoming Africa virtual event.
The gasworld Africa Industrial Gas Virtual Event will take place on 2nd September 2021. It will address how data and digitisation, new technologies and supply chain, and the emergence of new energies will offer Africa a more connected future.
A wide-ranging agenda will question various areas of Africa’s industrial future, including:
· Where are the hotspots and areas of interest for industrial gases in Africa?
· Where and why are companies looking to do business in Africa?
· Can advances in technologies and business models generate new levels of efficiency in product distribution across Africa’s vast geographies?
· Can this quest be aided by the revolution in asset management technologies?
· And how prepared is Africa’s medical oxygen infrastructure for any critical new wave of Covid-19?
