The Virtus Pack Controller (VPC) 5000 is designed to integrate all functions for the efficient and safe operation of transcritical booster systems, including optimum low-, high- and medium- pressure control, gas coolers, fan control, regigerant collectors and easy connection of heat recovery systems.
Natively controlling up to 3 NT and 3 LT compressors, Eckelmann states that, aside from the Virtus 5 system control unit, refrigeration case controllers and a single pack controller, refrigeration companies will not need any other electronic control components for the reliable operation of CO2 integrated systems.
With its compact design (W 255 x H 130 x D 100 mm), the controller allows for easy storage and features no lateral connections which allows for gapless series installation on the top-hat rail.
Operation of the controller utilises the Virtus 5 system control centre or its web interface directly in the browser. The USB service interface also allows for controller operation, in addition to the ability to install firmware updates.
The new control system is used in conjunction with the Virtus 5 and specialises in sub- and transcritical CO2 systems (R744). Supporting the transition to digitalised refrigeration, the future-proofed software improves upon previous iterations.
Following the expansion of its Virtus Line, Eckelmann plans to migrate to the next generation of the controller within the next few years.
