An education not of profit organisation, Primary Engineer supports primary and secondary schools across the UK with a range of programmes to inspire pupils and enable teachers to deliver curriculum mapped, inclusive science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) learning.
BCGA has now joined the scheme as part of a wider drive to encourage younger talent into industry, while showcasing what the compressed gases sector has to offer.
With a foundation of technical knowledge and dedicated members, BCGA represents member companies that produce compressed gases and related equipment in the industrial, medical, food, transport and technology sectors, among others.
“As an association, BCGA is keen to encourage and support young people as they explore STEM projects and consider their future careers,” said Ellen Daniels, BCGA Chief Executive.
“Primary Engineer has created a curriculum for children from Early Years through to Further Education that encourages and inspires them to engage with engineering, develop their skills and ultimately, gain a clearer understanding of the career opportunities available.”
“BCGA represents a proactive, sustainable and environmentally-conscious industry. The expertise and skills in our membership and the emphasis placed on innovation means we are well-placed to support key sectors and services in the future.”
“And the use of compressed gases such as hydrogen, LNG and CNG can underpin sustainable economies as well as offering a source of greener energy and supporting better air quality.”
“We’re keen to see today’s STEM pupils become tomorrow’s engineers working on game-changing technologies, products and services that ensure a safe, successful and healthy nation.”
Dr Susan Scurlock MBE, Founder and CEO of Primary Engineer, added, “The relationship with BCGA provides great opportunities for member companies to become involved with the Primary Engineer programmes to enable teachers and pupils to understand and be inspired by the sector and range of companies and roles within it.”
“Our programmes provide meaningful engagement between engineering and education and allow all pupils to see this as a potential future career. We look forward to working with BCGA and member companies to allow more schools and pupils to do this.”
