The news was confirmed on Monday (12th April) as part of Air Products’ goal of being the safest industrial gas company in the world.
Work-related MSDs are impairments of bodily structures, such as muscles, joints and tendons, that are caused or aggravated primarily by work or the effects of the immediate work environment.
With Air Products’ focus on safety and care for its employees, the team recognises that MSDs can be highly detrimental to an individual’s quality of life and ability to work and are one of the most common causes of disability, sick leave and early retirement.
Air Products believes every incident or accident is preventable and has a goal of zero injuries within a work environment where individuals are able to thrive.
“Becoming a partner of the ‘Lighten the Load’ campaign will enable us to share best practices and learn from each other to reduce these types of injury,” said, Martin Snape, EHS&Q Director at Air Products.
“At Air Products our goal is always to ensure our employees and contractors go home in the same condition that they came to work in that day, and our involvement in this campaign will help us to achieve this.”
“Many of our tasks are manual intensive and, irrespective of the number of safety initiatives we have in place, we are always looking for advice and guidance from other organisations as to how we can improve.”
“Being able to work with a reputable third-party organisation like EU-OSHA will provide an opportunity to share new ideas and information with our colleagues that can refresh and support the current programmes we utilise in the area of manual handling”.
