The investment comes as part of a new agreement the French corporation announced today with Methanex Corporation.
Air Liquide will supply oxygen, nitrogen and utilities to Methanex’s upcoming methanol plant expansion project in Geismar.
In order to serve Methanex and its other customers in the industrial basin that encompasses Geismer and Baton Rouge, Air Liquide will connect the new ASUs and infrastructure assets to its Mississippi River Pipeline, and significantly increase its production capacity in the US Gulf Coast region.
With a capacity of 2,500 tonnes per day of oxygen each, the two new ASUs will increase Air Liquide’s Mississippi River Pipeline’s supply capacity by more than 25%.
Production is expected to start in mid-2022 to support Methanex’s production of methanol.
