To be held on 7th April to coincide with World Health Day, the event will bring together industry and public health leaders under the same digital roof to take the lessons learned from the Covid pandemic and use them to build healthcare systems where access to medical oxygen is the standard everywhere.
As a result, the event has been described by various public health leaders as having first-of-its-kind status.
gasworld can now confirm that Air Liquide Senior Vice-President Jean-Marc de Royere will provide the events official Opening Keynote, describing the challenge of providing greater access to medical oxygen in low and middle-income countries (LMICs).
Under his keynote titled A New Era in Healthcare for All he will also set the scene for a day or discussion and debate around the event’s theme, Next Level Healthcare – A World Beyond Covid. This comes in the context of unprecedented new agreements for improved access to medical oxygen announced in June last year.
Unitaid and the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) announced the groundbreaking agreements with Air Liquide and Linde, respectively, which provide a pathway to increased access to medical oxygen in LMICs during the continuing Covid-19 pandemic.
L-R: Ingrid M. Reyes, Executive Director of ANDI; John C. Graf, Technology Development Lead for Life Support for NASA; Jean-Marc de Royere, Senior Vice-President of Air Liquide; and Fabian Van Damme, Director of Dohmeyer.
With just one week to go until the event, gasworld has also revealed the final speaking positions for the agenda, with participation from NASA, NOVAIR, Dohmeyer, IBG and ANDI (Chamber of Industrial and Medical Gases, National Business Association of Colombia) all now confirmed.
Ingrid M. Reyes, Executive Director of ANDI, will discuss the medical gases challenge in Latin America, while Newton de Oliveira, CEO and owner of IBG (Indústria Brasileira de Gases Ltda) will provide a perspective on the crippling oxygen shortages that engulfed Brazil during the height of its Covid-19 crisis and the lessons to take forward.
Continuing the Americas theme in the event’s closing session, John C. Graf, Technology Development Lead for Life Support for NASA, will unveil a brand new innovation in the field of pressurised onsite oxygen and Fabian Van Damme, Director of cold chain specialist Dohmeyer, will discuss the challenge of delivering a pharma cold chain for the pandemic and beyond.
Speakers already confirmed for the event had included:
- The World Health Organization (WHO)
- USAID
- Access to Medicine Foundation
- UNITAID
- Nippon Gases Europe
- Every Breath Counts
Nippon Gases is a confirmed launch sponsor of the event, recognising the significance of this gathering with its sponsorship of Session 1, focusing on healthcare in Europe.
While a major focus for the day will be on expanding the health reach of liquid oxygen, the event recognises that it is not only access to liquid oxygen that requires action, but so many forms of access to critical medical oxygen/therapeutics and the maintenance of that infrastructure.
Further still, there are huge advances being made in the digitisation of healthcare services and the important cold chain for both pharmaceuticals and vaccines, all of which need wider due discussion and recognition.
Free to attend
In the interests of greater connection and collaboration within the healthcare sector, gasworld’s brand new medical gases event, titled Next Level Healthcare – A World Beyond Covid, will be free to attend for participants all across the globe.
The event will be held virtually on 7th April (2022), World Health Day.
